Thats pretty interesting Keith and it's seems almost obvious that all of this recent innovation should provide benefits to the enterprise at some point in the near future.

Although I would be cautious about assuming that productivity benefits come from purely I.T. based investments, particularly over the last decade.

What would be great is to see I.T. expenditure for those same businesses plotted on the same graph for that period. This could help visualize assumptions about I.T. spend/productivity.

We should also consider that the new wave could be OpenSource and or SaaS based which seem to offer greater value per buck, which could result in a jump on productivity gains per dollar spent on I.T vs the historical investments.
